Super Bomberman 2 was released under the same name in every region (スーパーボンバーマン2 in Japan). The easiest legal way to play it today is SUPER BOMBERMAN COLLECTION on Steam, which includes the Japanese, US and European versions.

Super Bomberman 2 was developed by Produce! and released by Hudson Soft for the Super Famicom in Japan on April 28, 1994. North America got it in September 1994 and Europe in November 1994, where Virgin Interactive Entertainment published it.

It is the only Super Bomberman game without a two-player story mode. Instead, the focus is on Battle Mode: two players, or four with a multitap, fight in 10 arenas in battle royale or team matches. The story pits Bomberman against the Five Dastardly Bombers led by Plasma Bomber, and each world ends with a boss fought first on foot and then inside a giant machine. The game introduced the Golden Bomber and Sudden Death features used in later games of the series. Yasuhiko Fukuda composed the music.

According to Famitsu, it sold about 730,000 copies in Japan. The game was later included in Bomberman Collection Vol. 2 for Windows (2004) and in SUPER BOMBERMAN COLLECTION (2026).12
