Hudson Soft released Bomberman II on the Famicom in Japan on 28 June 1991. The game came out in Europe as Dynablaster and reached North America in February 1993. It was made by the staff of the 1990 PC Engine Bomberman and is based directly on that game.
This time Bomberman is framed for a bank robbery by Black Bomber and thrown into prison, so he blasts his way out room by room. The single-player mode has 48 stages in 6 areas of 8 stages each and, unlike the PC Engine game, no boss enemies. Passwords save the level along with the number and strength of the bombs.
Multiplayer is a big part of the game: VS mode is for two players, while Battle mode supports three with the NES Four Score. In 2026 the Japanese version was included in Super Bomberman Collection.123
