Suikoden II is a role-playing game developed by Konami Computer Entertainment Tokyo and published by Konami. It came out in Japan on December 17, 1998, in North America on September 29, 1999, and in Europe on July 28, 2000. Yoshitaka Murayama directed and produced it and wrote most of the story; the music is by Miki Higashino and Keiko Fukami. Compared with the first game, it added a three-rune slot system, a party inventory, a dash button and grid-based tactical battles.
In Japan the game was reissued as Konami the Best and PS one Books budget releases, and in 2006 it was paired with the first Suikoden on PSP as Gensō Suikoden I&II. A Chinese Windows version appeared in 2003, and North America got a PlayStation Network release in 2014.
On March 6, 2025, Konami released Suikoden I&II HD Remaster Gate Rune and Dunan Unification Wars worldwide for Switch, PlayStation, Xbox and Windows. Along with English and Japanese, the remaster offers French, Italian, German, Chinese and Latin American Spanish text.12
