Version differences
-
TitlePlayStation (EU)
The European release is titled Gateway to Glimmer with its own title screen, and instead of Press Start it opens with a language select (English, French, German, Spanish, Italian).1
-
GameplayPlayStation (JP)
In the Japanese version Spyro moves much more slowly, the camera is pulled back with a fixed angle (the Western camera can be switched on in the options), the map is on by default and Sparx no longer points to gems.1
-
AudioPlayStation (JP)
The Japanese version gives Spyro high-pitched grunts and fully voices the level intro scenes.1
-
GraphicsPlayStation (JP)
Explosions in the Japanese version are replaced by a 'Boom' image or toned down, most likely to lower the risk of epileptic seizures.1
-
ContentPlayStation (JP)
The Japanese version renames several characters, calling Zoe パックル and Crush グラップ, and adds a PocketStation minigame.2
-
Bug fixPlayStation Network (EU)
The European PlayStation Network release of 26 July 2007 was withdrawn within a week because the Colossus and Idol Springs levels would not load; it came back in December 2012 as the NTSC version.3
