Mega Man X2 is a Capcom action platformer released for the Super Famicom in Japan on December 16, 1994, as Rockman X2. North America got it in January 1995, and PAL regions in November 1995, published there by Laguna Video Games.
The cartridge carries the Cx4 chip, which adds simple 3D wireframe effects such as rotating and scaling objects. Tokuro Fujiwara produced the game, and Keiji Inafune focused on planning, production and the story, bringing Zero back. The X-Hunters were first sketched before the original Mega Man X and became the basis for Sigma's design; a fourth, female X-Hunter was cut for lack of resources. Yuki Iwai composed the music, and the Flame Stag theme survived only because the staff liked it.
The game later appeared in Mega Man X Collection (2006), on Virtual Console and in Mega Man X Legacy Collection (2018). In Japan it sold about 430,000 copies.12
