Crash Bandicoot: Warped is the third Crash platformer for the PlayStation, developed by Naughty Dog and published by Sony Computer Entertainment. It came out in North America on November 3, 1998, and in Europe, as Crash Bandicoot 3: Warped, on December 11, 1998; Japan also got it in 1998. Jason Rubin directed and wrote it and Evan Wells designed it.
Production began in January 1998 with about ten and a half months scheduled and a budget of over $2 million. The team built three new engines for the airplane, jet-ski and motorcycle levels and added Relic time trials to give players a reason to replay levels.
The regional versions differ a lot. The PAL release runs at 25 fps, is dubbed in five languages and is harder in places. The Japanese version supports the PocketStation, one of the first games to do so, renames relics Trophies, thins out enemies in the China levels and swaps in its own theme song. In Japan it sold over 1 million copies.1
