Dragon Quest VI is a role-playing game that Enix released for the Super Famicom in Japan on 9 December 1995. Development passed from Chunsoft, which had made the earlier games, to Heartbeat. The release slipped by over a year because Enix wanted to develop the game further, and at 4 MB it was among the largest Super Famicom games, the most the console could hold without bank-switching circuitry.
Nintendo Power reported a North American release planned for spring 1996 under the name Dragon Warrior V, but that SNES localization never happened. Akira Toriyama's design for Terry, one of the companions, was originally meant for the hero before Yuji Horii rejected it.
ArtePiazza remade the game for Nintendo DS in 2010. That version became the first Western release in 2011, as Realms of Revelation in North America and Realms of Reverie in Europe.12
