Rage of Mages is a game by the Russian studio Nival Interactive, first released in Russia by Buka on 10 April 1998 as «Аллоды: Печать тайны». It is the first game in the Allods series. It combines role-playing with a real-time strategy interface similar to Warcraft II, and the player chooses one of four characters. One of the quests references Akira Kurosawa's film Seven Samurai.
Buka released and licensed the game in 1997–1998 as part of its first steps into the international market. Monolith Productions published it in North America as Rage of Mages in October 1998, and a UK release followed in February 1999. It is one of the first Russian games to become popular worldwide. The sequel, Allods 2: Master of Souls (1999), was likewise published in the West by Monolith, as Rage of Mages II: Necromancer.
The Allods universe later continued as the MMORPG Allods Online, launched in Russia by Astrum Nival in late 2009. In 2016 Nival re-released the original game on GOG with both its English and Russian versions.123
