Medal of Honor is a World War II first-person shooter developed by DreamWorks Interactive and published by Electronic Arts for the PlayStation. It came out in North America on 10 November 1999 and in Europe on 10 December 1999.
Steven Spielberg conceived the game and is credited for its story. Development began on 11 November 1997, while he was working on Saving Private Ryan, and he was partly inspired by watching his son play GoldenEye 007. Michael Giacchino wrote the orchestral score, and Dale Dye served as military advisor. After the Columbine High School massacre, the team cut a particularly gory death animation. Paul Bucha of the Congressional Medal of Honor Society first criticised the project but endorsed it after seeing a demo, which saved the game from cancellation.
Besides the single-player campaign, the game has a split-screen deathmatch mode for two players.1
