Klonoa: Door to Phantomile is a 2.5D side-scrolling platformer developed and published by Namco for the PlayStation. It came out in Japan on 11 December 1997, in North America on 10 March 1998 through Namco Hometek, and in Europe on 5 June 1998 through Sony Computer Entertainment Europe.
It was the tenth project of director Hideo Yoshizawa, who had earlier directed Ninja Gaiden (1988) at Tecmo; Shigeru Yokoyama produced it. The game began as a planned adaptation of the manga Spriggan, and an early concept starred a robot among ancient ruins. Klonoa himself started out as a shadowy figure called "Shady". In the finished game he grabs enemies with a ring inhabited by Huepow, then throws them or uses them as springboards, and the controls were cut from three buttons to two.
The game launched the Klonoa series. Paon remade it for Wii in 2008, and Klonoa Phantasy Reverie Series followed on 8 July 2022.1
