General Chaos was released for the Sega Genesis in North America in August 1993 and in Europe in September 1993. It was developed by Game Refuge and published by Electronic Arts. Brian Colin and Jeff Nauman designed it: Nauman also programmed the game, Colin drew the art, and Michael Bartlow composed the music.
It is a real-time tactics game. Each player picks one of four teams; three have five soldiers with different weapons, and the fourth has two commandos with their own controls. With a multiplayer adapter up to four people can play the campaign together against the computer, and human players can also fight each other. A tutorial mode called boot camp explains the basics.
In September 2013 Brian Colin launched a Kickstarter campaign for a sequel, General Chaos II: Sons of Chaos, but it fell more than $100,000 short of its goal.1
