Version differences
-
TitleNES (JP)
The Japanese version is titled Wanpaku Dakku Yume Bōken (わんぱくダック夢冒険) after the show's Japanese name, uses a logo without the winking Scrooge head and shows the title-screen options in white.1
-
TextNES (JP)
The Japanese release keeps the prototype's ending screen, while the US and European versions use a newer one. It also blanks out an unused line of text about the King of the Terra-Firmies in the African Mines.1
-
GameplayNES (EU)
The PAL version speeds Scrooge up to compensate for the slower 50 Hz refresh rate; as a side effect, he can barely clear the big gap in the second part of the Amazon without Launchpad's help.1
-
CensorshipPrototypeNES (final)
During development the crosses on the Transylvania coffins became "RIP", hamburger power-ups became ice cream, an option for Scrooge to give his money away was cut as too un-Scrooge-like, and his shirt changed from blue to red.2
-
ContentPrototype
A leaked prototype has different level names, unused Transylvania music and a slower Moon theme, and it calls Gizmoduck "RoboDuck".2
-
GraphicsGame Boy
The Game Boy version keeps the NES gameplay, music and levels, but each level's layout was reworked for the handheld's lower-resolution screen.2
-
GameplayThe Disney Afternoon Collection
The version in The Disney Afternoon Collection adds rewind, save states, Time Attack and Boss Rush modes with online leaderboards, and a museum of concept art and music.3
