WarioWare, Inc. was developed by Nintendo R&D1 and released in Japan as Made in Wario on 21 March 2003, then reached the West in May 2003. Its idea grew out of Sound Bomber, a mode in Mario Artist: Polygon Studio for the Nintendo 64DD; director Hirofumi Matsuoka had directed that game too.
The game is built from microgames: there are over 210 of them across nine stages. In PAL regions it was renamed WarioWare, Inc.: Minigame Mania. A GameCube remake, Mega Party Game$!, reuses the same microgames but is designed for two to four players.
The Game Boy Advance original came back on the Wii U Virtual Console in April 2014 and on Nintendo Switch Online in February 2023.1
