Tom & Jerry (and Tuffy), also titled The Ultimate Game of Cat and Mouse!, was published by Hi Tech Expressions for the NES in North America on 3 December 1991. It reached Europe in October 1992, Japan in November 1992, and an MS-DOS version followed in 1993.
The story flips the usual chase around. Tom kidnaps Tuffy, Jerry's nephew, and locks him in a trunk in the attic, so Jerry has to make his way through the house to rescue him. To fight back he uses whatever a mouse can find at home: bubble gum, water cups, moth balls, a hammer, invisible ink and a drill.
The NES game is not the only Tom and Jerry title of the period. Separate games with different designs followed on the Game Boy in 1992 and on the SNES in 1993, so a cartridge with the same name on another system is a different game.1
