The Flintstones: The Rescue of Dino & Hoppy used the same English title in North America, Europe and Japan, where the Famicom version was released as フリントストーン The Rescue of Dino & Hoppy. No modern re-release was found in the sources checked, so the game remains tied to its original NES and Famicom cartridges.

The Flintstones: The Rescue of Dino & Hoppy is an NES platformer based on the animated series The Flintstones. It was developed by Taito with Sol Corporation and published by Taito. The game came out in North America in December 1991, in Europe on 30 April 1992 and, last of all, in Japan on 7 August 1992.

The story begins when Dr. Butler, a man from the 30th century, kidnaps Dino and Hoppy, the pets of Fred and Barney, and damages Gazoo's time machine. Each stage Fred completes recovers a piece of the machine, which Gazoo welds back together, and every stage ends with a boss. Fred can club enemies and climb ledges.

Along the way Fred meets Wilma, Barney and Betty, and George Jetson turns up in the future stage. One change from the TV series: here Gazoo is visible only to Fred. Taito followed the game with The Flintstones: The Surprise at Dinosaur Peak for the NES in 1993.1

Reception

GamePro praised the graphics, gameplay and number of levels but criticized the music. AllGame gave it 4 out of 5 stars and called it a first-rate platformer with bright graphics that resemble the cartoon.1
