Mickey Mania is a platformer developed by Traveller's Tales and published by Sony Imagesoft for the Genesis, SNES and Sega CD, released in Europe on 28 October 1994 and in North America on 1 November 1994. It was first meant to mark Mickey's 65th birthday in 1993, but with only about six months available the team changed course and sent Mickey back through his own cartoons.
The levels recreate Steamboat Willie (1928), The Mad Doctor (1933), The Band Concert (1935), Moose Hunters (1937), Lonesome Ghosts (1937), Mickey and the Beanstalk (1947) and The Prince and the Pauper (1990). Mickey jumps on enemies or throws marbles and can take five hits, shown as fingers on his hand. The designers included Jon Burton and David Jaffe, whose first design project it was, and Michael Giacchino was among the composers.
Psygnosis ported the game to the PlayStation as Mickey's Wild Adventure, released in Europe on 1 March 1996. A Mickey Mania 2 prototype was built in 1994, but the sequel was dropped so Traveller's Tales could make Toy Story.1
