Diablo II is an action role-playing game developed by Blizzard North and released for Windows in North America on 28 June 2000, with Europe following on 30 June and Australia on 6 July. In Japan the game was released through Capcom, and in Russia it was published by GameCity. A Classic Mac OS version arrived on 26 July 2000.
The game sold 184,000 copies on its first day and 1 million within two weeks. It won Game of the Year at the 4th Annual Interactive Achievement Awards in 2001. The same year the Lord of Destruction expansion added Act V and two new classes, the Druid and the Assassin.
