In Russia the game is Дальнобойщики: Путь к победе ("Truckers: Road to Victory"); English-speaking players know it as Hard Truck. It is not sold digitally, so the only legal way to play it today is an original retail copy on Windows.

Hard Truck is a Russian truck-driving game made by the Russian studio SoftLab-NSK and published by Buka Entertainment on 20 April 1998. At home it came out as Дальнобойщики: Путь к победе, which translates as "Truckers: Road to Victory", and the short name Дальнобойщики later stuck to the whole series.

Under the hood it is a racing game built around a central hub. Between runs the player buys cargo to haul, upgrades the truck or trades it for a better one, so earning money matters as much as crossing the finish line first.

The series grew quickly. Hard Truck 2: King of the Road (2000) added traffic, police and the Russian mafia, with the goal of controlling 51% of the trucking market. The name was later carried on by SCS Software's Hard Truck: 18 Wheels of Steel (2002) and by the post-apocalyptic spin-off Hard Truck Apocalypse (2006).12
